Never Cooked Italian? The Organization of an Authentic Italian Meal
One of the drawbacks of living in Italy is that one tends to take Italian culture for granted and assume everyone else is familiar with it too. If you've never been to Italy you may well not, even if you enjoy cooking Italian dishes -- the few times I have eaten in Italian restaurants abroad the meals haven't been anything like what I'd serve at home in Tuscany.
Pasta Primavera (with Zucchini this time), Followed by Scaloppine Primavera
Primavera sauce is incredibly variable; some people like some vegetables, and some vegetables do better in one patch as opposed to another, so no two recipes are alike, though they all do share the freshness of spring. This sauce will work equally well over pasta and over scaloppini, and preparing a tasty meal with it will take minutes.
Pasta with a Richly Aromatic Egg Sauce, Followed by a Deft Chicken and Vegetable Salad
Italian cooking is, well dynamic; new dishes are invented every day, and here are a couple of fine examples; were you to set these bucatini in front of my father-in-law, whose idea of the perfect pasta sauce is my mother-in-law's sugo alla Bolognese, he's probably go hungry, and he wouldn't be at all enthusiastic about the salad either. My mother-in-law, on the other hand, would probably enjoy both.
Pasta with a Tomatoey Olive-and-Caper Sauce, Followed by Steamed Whitefish
Pasta with a Tomatoey Olive-and-Caper Sauce, Followed by Steamed Whitefish:
A Menu: Pasta Primavera followed by Fried Mozzarella
A Menu: Pasta Primavera followed by Fried Mozzarella: Pasta alla Primavera, which Italians call either garden or greengrocer's pasta (all'orto or dell'ortolano, respectively) is extremely refreshing and very nice in the summer months. It's also quite good ahead of fried mozzarella, which is much lighter than you might think.
